• Troy Craughwell Elementary School is located in the western part of Will County about 45 miles southwest of Chicago near the intersection of Essington and Black Road in Joliet, Illinois. Our students come from Joliet and Crest Hill. Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C educates approximately 4400 students in five elementary schools, one intermediate school (grades five and six)  and one middle school. The surrounding countryside is growing, and we are seeing an increase in student enrollment similar to our neighbors to the north.

Over 70 staff members are on hand daily to support over 400 Kindergarten through fourth grade students. Our outstanding instructional programs are aligned with the Illinois State Standards, and students are assessed regularly using local and state assessment tools.

Throughout the day all children participate in "specials" which include:  physical education, music education, art education, technology and library. A thirty-two computer PC Lab is used by students on a regular basis. Keyboarding, word processing, and presentation programs are just a few of the activities that take place in the lab. Digital still and movie cameras, scanners and projectors are also components of our program. To further enhance technology competencies, PC wireless lap tops are available to students in the classrooms as well as a SmartBoard.

Troy Craughwell truly strives to meet the needs of all our children.  We are proud of our students, parents, staff and community.

    Troy Craughwell Expectations
Be Respectful - Be Responsible - Be Safe - Be Kind

     Troy Craughwell Pledge
Today is a new day. I will do my best to be respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. I came to Troy Craughwell to learn. When I work with my teachers, family and friends I can achieve this.

Craughwell Policies

  • Absent From School
It is the parents' responsibility to contact the Craughwell office at 815-577-7313 when your child will be absent from school. If you want homework sent home or left in the office, please let us know when you call in the student's absence. Our policy states that students who have not been called in by an adult will have an unexcused absence on their record.

Can I Pick Up My Child Early?
All students who leave the school early or are picked up from school are required to be signed out in the office by an adult.  Please be prepared to show your photo ID. Unless it is an emergency, we must have a note from the parent at the start of the school day. If your child is to be picked up at the end of the school day, he/she can be signed out at the front east doors.  If your child is to be picked up early, he/she will need to be signed out in the office.
